Your rights when disrupted at Málaga

EU Regulation 261/2004 applies to every flight departing from Málaga — regardless of the airline. If you arrive 3 hours or later at your final destination, or your flight was cancelled less than 14 days in advance, you are entitled to €250 to €600 compensation depending on flight distance.

During a long wait the airline must also provide care: food, drinks and a hotel if needed. Keep your receipts — reasonable costs can be reclaimed, even if the delay itself turns out not to be compensable.

Strike or extreme weather at Málaga?

A strike by air traffic control or airport staff usually voids compensation — but a strike by the airline's own staff usually does not. That difference decides whether your claim is viable.

The weather excuse deserves scrutiny too: Tomo tests every rejection against the METAR weather observations from Málaga itself, so you can see objectively whether the excuse holds up.

Frequently asked questions

My flight from Málaga was cancelled. What now?

The airline must rebook you or refund your ticket — that is separate from compensation. If the cancellation was announced less than 14 days in advance, you are often also entitled to €250 to €600. Check your flight for free in the claim check.

Does EU261 apply to all flights from Málaga?

Yes — every flight departing from an EU airport is covered by the regulation, no matter where the airline is based. For arriving flights the regulation only applies to EU carriers.

How current is this departure board?

We read the Málaga departure board several times a day and show cancelled and heavily delayed (60+ min) departures. The page refreshes every hour; short-lived disruptions can fall between two readings.

My flight is not on the board. Can I still claim?

Yes. This board only shows what we registered today — your claim does not depend on it. You can claim up to 2 years after the flight date; the claim check pulls the flight data itself.
